The hustle and bustle of the week is always tiring. But Sunday…well Sunday is that day I look forward to. Not being one to like wasting a day I don’t wake up and dread any other day, but Sunday has that cosy feeling. This Sunday was no different. I woke up around 08:00 and was greeted by the gusts of Storm Ciara, battering everything in sight just like she had been doing all night. The first couple of hours were spent lazing around, Sunday is a day of rest after all. Then there was a day to be had, whether it involved staying inside as much as possible or not.
We had to face Ciara for a quick trip to the supermarket, using scan as you shop and following a shopping list makes me feel like such a grown up. I love wandering around supermarkets, which is weird considering I already spend a lot of time in them. I guess it is the “ooh this looks cool” kind of thing that I love, I had to drag myself away from the chocolate and caramel hot cross buns. They’re all sorts of lovely and you should totally try them before Easter has been and gone, which weirdly will be very soon, and we’ll be in spring and enjoying all the joys it brings.
Where was I? Oh yes, the supermarket. I debated getting out the car when I got back, the hedge was blowing around like one of those weird blow-up people things you get at a car showroom. Nothing like the dolls on Only Fools Danger UXD though, they’re not to be confused. The ones that flail, instead. Anyway, I remembered that my dog was inside so that urged me on and I ran down the steps as quickly as a clumsy person could and back into the warmth.
I made myself a cup of tea, a little comfort whilst I battled through the mountain of university work that I had. I don’t know about you, but I do love a good cuppa and that cup of tea was one of those ones that make you go ooh and ahh after every sip, accompanied by the thought of “ooh I do make a good cuppa”. Sometimes I like to listen to music whilst I’m doing my work but others, I get far too distracted and focus on my musical performance, so today I opted for one of those peaceful piano playlists on Spotify.
For lunch it was bacon and mature cheddar soup, I got to fry onions which is possibly one of my favourite tasks ever. That’s weird and you’re right, I don’t get out much. I don’t even like eating fried onions themselves, but the smell is amazing. I’d probably buy a scented candle with the smell of fried onions. Ooh, it was a recipe where you could wash the pots as you go along as well which is always a bonus. It’s the little things in life.

More university work, it does get a bit tedious maybe like wading through treacle| I’ve never tried that though so I wouldn’t like to comment. Either way, filling the day with fun tasks in between essential tasks helps a lot.
Another fun task I decided to do was baking. I had a dream the other night that I won Bake Off which clearly inspired me to put an apron on. Ironically, the only apron I have is the Angelina Ballerina one that is still in the cupboard from when I was very small. Is that on television nowadays? Probably not. Also, ironically, when making the buttercream for said cupcakes I had a slight accident with the icing sugar and somehow it ended up all over me and the kitchen side. I blame the bowl.

More university work was obviously next. But that was my last task of the day which puts me nicely on track with my to-do list for the week ahead. I do like the satisfaction of ticking tasks off. If I’m feeling particularly tick happy then I will add some tasks that I have already completed purely so I can tick them off and look like I’m doing well straight away. Anyone else?
I’d call that a Sunday well spent, and as the saying goes, I’m hopeful it will bring a week of content. I hope this stress-free Sunday post brought you some zen and you’re ready for the week ahead. However, it wasn’t an excuse for the “Sunday night feeling” posts to start coming in. Let’s remain positive.
Until next time,
